In America, FGM is completely illegal. Not even a cut is allowed.

MGM is completely legal- not a single restriction is placed on it. Not even when the baby dies.

But FGM is so much worse, you say. Okay, fine, in most cases it is. Does that mean we shouldn’t care about MGM just because it affects men instead of women?

If someone gets shot and another gets beaten with a baseball bat, should we ignore the person being beaten with the bat because being shot is worse?

Yes, in many cases FGM is worse than MGM. But that doesn’t mean you should ignore a male’s genital integrity being violated.

It helps lower the risks of HIV, you say? Wonderful! Than wait until he’s an adult so he can decide if it’s worth it. I doubt you’d support FGM if there were a million studies backing it because of the violation of privacy and harm it causes. MGM causes that also, even if on a slightly lower scale, so it too shouldn’t be allowed no matter what loose “benefits” money-hungry doctors try to find.

Fact: There is no excuse for cutting up a female’s genitals.

Fact: There is no excuse for cutting up a male’s genitals.

Fact: One being worse does not mean the other should be ignored.
